A high school basketball showcase like no other

Since 2013, the Metro Classic Basketball Showcase has brought together the highest profile national and regional High School basketball teams to compete and provide a framework to give back to our communities.
The Metro Classic is designed to utilize basketball as an agent for community involvement. We seek to foster values such as responsibility, respect, leadership, integrity, competition and service to others. Over the years, the Metro Classic sponsors and teams have touched the life of so many by donating funds and their time to outstanding community service organizations such as Warfighter Sports, Interfaith Hospitality Network of Ocean County, Union County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Collegiate Scholarship Fund, and the Neonatal Unit of the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, NJ Police Surgeons and Night to Shine.

The event, televised in previous years on ESPN, MSG Varsity and NJ 12, has sold out since its inception. Participants have included National and Local powers: Montverde Academy, Sierra Canyon, Camden, Christ the King, Long Island Lutheran, Oak Hill, Roselle Catholic, St. Benedict's Prep, St. Anthony’s, St. Thomas More (CT), Imhotep (PA) Rutgers Prep, St. Joseph's Metuchen, First Love(PA) Academy, Ranney, Linden, The Patrick School, Lincoln (NY), Newark Eastside, Imhotep, Pope John, Gill St. Bernards, Hudson Catholic, Hunterdon Central, Union Catholic, and Rumson Fairhaven.
Current NBA standouts Cade Cunningham, Scottie Barnes, Ben Simmons, Jonathan Kuminga, Karl Towns D’Angelo Russell, RJ Barret, Naz Reid, Moses Moody, RJ Barret, Grady Dick, and more have shown of their skills at the Metro Classic.
The Metro Classic has also been a must-see event for numerous collegiate coaches including John Calipari, Arkansas; Ed Cooley, Georgetown , Mick Cronin, UCLA; Shaheen Holloway, Seton Hall, Bruce Pearl, Auburn, Steve Pikell, Rutgers and Bill Self, Kansas;
The Metro Classic High School Basketball Showcase organizers and sponsors are delighted to announce this year’s event is scheduled from February 6th through February 8TH at Franklin High School in Somerset, NJ.
This year’s Classic has 2 teams in the TOP 5 Nationally.10 Top 20 Teams in the Metro Area, 7 Preseason HIGH SCHOOL ALL-AMERICANS and Over 20 ESPN TOP 100 PLAYERS
Highlight of 2/6th (Thursday) Matchups include:
Elite Sophomore and top NJ PG Micah Gordon of Plainfield taking on Union Catholic and top 50 ranked center Yaw Ansong offered by St. Bonaventure and PG
AJ Altobelli offered by Rider.
Defending National Champion Montverde Academy led by several Top 30 players including Villanova Commit Dante Allen, Hudson Greer Creighton , and CJ Ingram Florida take on one of Nj’s finest teams in College Achieve Academy led by top 50 Jr., Eric Hillman offered by TCU, and top NJ freshman Mark Johnson, offered by Baylor.
The Night cap game is St. Peters Prep led by Top 50 Center Keiner Asprilla, who holds offers from Villanova, Kansas, Auburn, K State, Seton Hall, v. St. Rose , Led by Top 30 Junior sensation Jayden Hodge , who has offers from Villanova, Rutgers, Maryland, Seton Hall and more.
Highlights of 2/7th (Friday)
Nationally Ranked Prep Power St. Thomas More (CT) with Alabama Commit and top 50 player London Jemison takes on v. NJ Prep power house Blair Academy with Top 30 player guard Deron Rippey who hosts offers from Georgia Tech, Louisville, St. Johns, TCU, and others.
Gill St. Bernards with top 100 Dorset Mulchay, brother of former Rutgers star Paul Mulchacy v. Manasquan
So Cal Academy from California with Kevin Odih, WVU commit and Jacob Ross, Minnesota commit v. Lawrence Woodmere NY with Sophomore Guard Anderson Diaz who holds offers from St. Johns and Cincinnati.
Top 10 Ranked National team La Lumiere V. Colonia. La Lumiere features top 20 Nationally ranked Darius Adams committed to UConn and Jalen Harrelson committed to Notre Dame while Colonia is led by top 50 player, Jr. Jordan Derkack.
Final game of the Night is North/South battle Camden v. Roselle Catholic.
